FAQs About Hangers

Q
What are your hangers made from?

A

Most of the hangers are made from alder, a hardwood that grows in the northwest.  We use it because it is attractive and finishes well.  For some hidden components we use high quality plywood for strength and uniformity.

Q
How are the hangers finished?

A

We use commercial stains to achieve uniform colors on the hangers.  They are then finished with multiple coats of a water based lacquer.  The hangers are completely sealed both inside and outside so no oils from the wood can contact your fabric.

Q
How do I attach the hanger to the wall?

A

The hangers have keyhole slots on the back which slip over the head of a screw.  (see the installation instructions for each hanger)  You can use any screws that will hold in the wall and which has a head that fits the keyhole slot.  The weight is distributed over several screws.  So, if you are hanging a moderate weight hanging on a wall constructed from drywall you seldom need any special anchors.  We just use simple 1" long screws.

Q Where are the hangers made?
A They are manufactured by Unique Quality Woodworks in Peralta New Mexico.

Q
How are the hangers shipped?

A

Modular Hangers and Hidden Hanger Kits usually ship from our shop by US Mail.  Custom Hangers are shipped from the manufacturer by UPS.

Q
How long will it take to get my hanger?

A

Modular and Mini Hidden Hangers ship the next business day so you should receive them in about one week.  All custom hangers are made to order and generally ship in 7 to 10 days.  They are shipped directly from Unique Quality Woodworks.

Q
My computer or browser doesn't show the photos very well.  Can you send me printed copies?

A

Sure. Just send us an e-mail or call.  We will send you a catalog.

Q
Can you make a Custom Contemporary or Southwest hanger from oak with a "medium" finish?

A

Yes we can make either style hanger from oak with a light, medium or dark finish.  We can also supply the oak hanger unfinished.  Since there are many shades that can be considered "medium" it is often difficult to get an exact match.  If an exact match is important you may want to consider getting an unfinished hanger and applying your own stain.  Since they are not standard, please order oak hangers by phone.

For a Contemporary Hanger add $10.00 to the standard price. The hidden back piece will be the standard wood while the visible front will be oak.

For a Southwest Hanger add $20.00.
